Q1. Can you calculate or assess the probability of scour occurring for an installation at a specific site ?
A. Yes, we provide a consultancy service specialising in such tasks, but we need site specific data, such as currents, waves, sediment, depth, etc.
Q2. Do you design scour control layouts for a site or an installation ?
A. Yes.
Q3. Can Frond Height be changed, and can you supply specially designed frond mat or fronded concrete mattress shapes for a specific site or structure ?
A. Yes ~ to both.
Q4. Can your systems be installed without divers ?
A. The scour control mats can only be installed by divers as the safe anchors must be driven in by a hydraulic hammer gun, but the Fronded Concrete Mattresses can be installed by divers or by a competent work class ROV.
Q4. Do you / Can you manufacture or assemble overseas ?
A. Yes - we have manufactured/assembled fronded systems in the UK, Singapore, Australia, UAE and Trinidad, and provided that the quantities required justify it we can do this almost anywhere.
Q5. How long do your frond systems last ?
A. Our first series of large scale installations were for Shell (UK) for scoured pipeline protection in 1984; the sediment banks formed over the fronded areas are still in place to this day.
Q6. Can your Frond systems be attached to structures, or sand bags ?
A. Yes - subject to project specific design.
Q7. Fishermen often object to rock/gravel dumping and to concrete mattresses, do they object to your frond systems ?
A. No. Our fronds are friendly for the fish and to a small degree encourage breeding, and they are endorsed by the UK Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, the UK National Rivers Authority (now Environment Agency), and - most importantly for us - by the British National Federation of Fishermen's Organisations.
Q8. Do you have QA approval ?
A. Yes. We have been assessed by SGS Yarsley and more recently by Lloyds Register Quality Assurance.
