
1. Seabed Scour Consultancy Services.
- Site assessments and environmental studies of scour or erosion potential.
- Design of installations to correct, or to prevent, scour for a specific river, coastal or subsea site.
2. Seabed Scour Control Systems ~ Products.
- Design, manufacture and supply of underwater viscous drag frond scour control and scour protection systems for Offshore Oil and Gas industry annual IRM programmes, new construction projects, Offshore Wind Farms, Subsea Power and Telecomms Cables and also for Civil Engineering projects such as Bridge Piers and Outfalls (Scour Control Mats and Fronded Concrete Mattresses).
- Supply of SSCS Safe Anchors - designed to anchor Scour Control Mats but increasingly used for other seabed retention purposes, from anchoring data recorders and GRP gratings to power and telecomms cables. SSCS Safe Anchors are proven and patented: the anchor driven in sand to a depth of 1 metre creates a Lloyds Register and American Bureau of Shipping certificated retaining force of 1tonne. Hard clay, gravel and stiff soil will increase retention force. In coastal trials retention forces were proven in chalk and chalk/flint layers, up to 2.2 tonnes.
- Provision of installation equipment and detailed procedures.
- Supply of appropriate lifting gear for overside deployment - all in full compliance with the European Community Machinery Directive.
- Recently SSCS commenced joint research into the application of viscous drag fronds for aquaculture and fisheries enhancement.

a). Scour Control Mats ~ Fronds are attached in successive continuous rows with a standard Frond height of 1.25m. All are Diver installed. Standard Mats are:
Type 12 (T12) - 5m x 2.5m c/w 8 Safe Anchors and 1.25m high viscous drag Frond lines;
Type 25 (T25) - 5m x 5m c/w 16 Anchors and 1.25m Fronds; and
Type 30 (T30) - 5m x 7.5m c/w 24 Anchors and Fronds.
Non-standard "Specials" are made to order.

b). Fronded Concrete Mattresses ~ The FCM is a combined buoyant frond scour mat and flexible concrete base mattress. Installation can be by Divers or by Work Class ROV. Standard Block Thicknesses are 150mm, 300mm, and 450mm. Standard Block Density is 2.4 Tonnes / Cubic Metre; Density options are also available from 1.8 - 4.8 tonnes/m3. Buoyant Fronds are attached to the mattress in successive continuous rows with a standard Frond height of 1.25m. Standard mould sizes are 10m x 3m in plan. FCMs are available in any size within mould dimensions.
